Rafting On The Toccoa River

Ever since Mark Twain immortalized river rafting in the pages of Huckleberry Finn, most of us have had at least a small yearning to experience our own free-spirited trek down some mighty river on a raft.  At Toccoa Valley Campground, you can have all the fun of Huck and Tom with none of the splinters. TVC rafting provides more flexibility than tubing or kayaking, especially if you have smaller children or a dog you want to take for a river run. Choose from a four-person or six-person TVC raft and invite a friend or two for a cooperative family-style river adventure down our six-mile stretch of the Toccoa.

No Reservations Required!

Kaykers and Rafters are served on a first-come first serve basis.

4 Person Raft: $60
6 Person Raft: $80

What to Expect from a TVC Rafting Ride

You will begin your rafting ride from our launch point at the campground (about a twenty minute drive from downtown Blue Ridge, Georgia). Your rafting adventure will end (for this trip at least!) about six miles down the river at our private takeout area.

Under normal conditions, most of the trip you will float or paddle at your own pace, but, in a few places, the river picks up speed and you and your raft crew will have the opportunity to navigate class I and II rapids around easily navigated boulders. You do not need to be an experienced rafter to participate, but, just to be extra safe, children 12 and under are required to wear a (provided) life jacket at all times.

The float time varies depending on your experience, your pace, and, of course, water flow.  If you paddle the whole time, your trip might be a bit shorter, but, on average, it takes about 2 hours to make it from our launch point to the clearly marked takeout area where you will board our free shuttle. After that, it takes about 7 minutes to shuttle back to where your vehicle is parked.

We have new full-service bathrooms available for your use, along with changing rooms so that you can change out of your wet swimsuits before you leave.

What We Provide:

  • Free Private Parking Area
If you go tubing at some other places, you might be parking on the side of the road and playing leap frog with traffic to get to your launch point. Not with us! At TVC, come and park at our large private parking area a short (and completely safe) walk under the roadway to the river launch point.
  • Changing Rooms and Full-Service Bathrooms
We provide full changing rooms and new, full-service bathrooms. At TVC, you won’t need to change out of your wet swimsuit in your car or suffer the primitive “charms” of a sun-baked porta-john.
  • Variable-Size Rafts
We have 4-person and 6-person rafts to choose from. You may also bring your own raft, and we will launch it from our launch point (all parking, shuttle, and amenities included).
  • Life Jackets
Life jackets are issued to everyone, and children 12 and under must wear life jackets at all times in the river.
  • Free Shuttle
We provide a free shuttle ride back from our privately-owned takeout area to your parked vehicle.
  • TVC Store
In case you forgot something, we carry many must-have items at our store: sunscreen, water shoes, hats, dry bags, snacks, drinks, and more!

What to Bring:

  • Swimsuits
  • Sunscreen
  • Water Bottles
  • Water Shoes

What Not to Bring

  • Coolers/Alcohol
Alcohol is strictly prohibited at TVC, and coolers are not allowed on the river. We strive to create a safe, family environment free from potential sources of disturbance. We don’t allow alcohol on the campgrounds or on the river for this reason, and we are vigilant to cultivate a peaceful and wholesome environment for you and your family at all times.
  • Personal Items/Purses/Bags
We will hold your car keys, cell phones, and wallets for you, but we do not have the space to hold purses or bags.
